I think it had a somewhat bittersweet ending. Wilson leaves PPTH to work somewhere else.
House stalks him as their friendship grows distant. At the other place, a woman walks out. House mentions something about a friend. She reccommends Wilson with a glowing review, House is reminded of what he's lost.

May or may not be a season 4 AU. Can't quite remember.
