Hi, I'm searching for a specific story. In it House's father dies and he and Wilson go to the funeral. Turns out his father was very abusive during House's childhood (this story was probably written after 'One day, one room') but he never told anyone, I don't think even his mother knows. The only reason he is at the funeral at all is because of his mother. His mother and/or other relatives/friends of his father are urging him to speak at the funeral, at first he refuses but after they try to shame and guilt him into it he has enough. He makes a speech about how all of this people talk about what a great guy his father was, wonderful friend and neighbor etc. but that he was a really lousy father who abused his child. Afterwards he runs out and Wilson comforts him. I'm not sure if it is slash but it has some very sweet Wilson/House interaction all the same.

Does anyone know this? I would be very grateful for an author's name or a link. Thank you!

Sure thing. I think I'm just not happy with it, because I had only started watching the show at the season 2 finale. So looking back, it feels OOC to me.

To be honest, personally I don't think that OCCness is necessarily a bad thing. Some authors can pull it off, making the reader believe that under certain circumstances it could really happen even though there has never been anything like that in canon, while some authors just go completely overboard making even the most dominant characters completely unrecognizable.
I guess it's also important how much the reader is willing to suspend his disbelieve. Perhaps I'm more willing than most, but from what I remember from your story I certainly didn't think "Boy, that House sure is OOC" while reading it :-D
